MKÜ MİMARLIK FAKÜLTESİ TARİHİ BÖLGE KAMPÜSÜ

Introduction
To convey Antakya’s historical and cultural richness to future generations and contribute to the city, the report for the Faculty of Architecture located in the historical area has been provided below.

Location and Concept
The project is situated in the historical area of Antakya, on the southeastern part of the Asi River. It aims to integrate into the Historical City area, creating new usage areas and programs within the historical urban fabric.

Design Features
The architecture of the Faculty of Architecture, which is constructed over the same footprint while preserving the characteristics of the demolished buildings, is positioned parallel to each other to create inner courtyards. The materials used include the demolished stone walls and wood. The reconstructed building features stone walls, while wood is used in the newly added structures. Wood is chosen to lighten the form of the wooden building and to harmonize with nature. The stone walls in the reconstructed building serve as a testament to the city’s enduring essence, demonstrating its ability to recreate itself in different ways.
