Project Purpose
The reorganization of the socio-cultural facilities in the center of Antakya aims to create a functional and aesthetic environment that meets modern needs while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the city. One of the focal points of the project is the adoption of a design that reflects the historical and cultural texture of Antakya. This allows the facilities to interact with their surroundings and reinforce the city’s identity. In addition, remodelling after post-disaster damage and destruction improves the quality of life of the city by providing an environment that complies with modern requirements. The success of this project will enable Antakya to continue its development as a living city, with the preservation of its cultural heritage and its transfer to future generations.

Project Area
The project area is located between two parallel streets. It includes various functions such as library, study areas, workshops, cafes and temporary programs to be spread over open areas. These elements have been considered by considering the relations and functional integrity within the city.

Environmental Interaction and Pedestrian Mobility
Our project aims to create an urban connection by being inspired by the attraction power of Cumhuriyet and Adnan Menderes streets. Considering that the pedestrian movement will be strong, we plan to support the architectural structures with complementary pedestrian circulations. In this way, the center of the city will become more accessible and people will be able to have a more comfortable and enjoyable time in these areas.

Architectural Concept and Silhouette
The project uses the energy coming from the city center of Antakya to create a framework that surrounds it. This frame shapes street textures and squares, while combining inward-facing courtyards with inviting passages. Urban connections with historical buildings are also taken into account. This approach contributes to the urban identity of Antakya by preserving its historical and cultural texture with its modern architectural understanding and encourages sustainable urban development.
